Princeton freshman Emily Viggers has been named the Ivy League softball Rookie of the Week, giving Princeton two of the league's first three awards of the season after no Tiger freshman had won one since 2008.
Classmate Shanna Christian won the honor in the season's first awards on Mar. 4.
Viggers started all four games in which she played last weekend, getting multi-hit games in all four contests. She drove in four runs twice, against Coppin State and UMBC, and had another two-RBI game against Coppin State. She slugged 1.118 for the weekend, getting two doubles and two home runs in addition to seven singles in her 17 at-bats as the Tigers went 4-1 on the weekend.
Princeton enters a twinbill today at Georgetown (4 p.m.) with a record of 10-4, its best record through 14 games since 2005.
