Chris Massey (yellow tie) with Ben Strutt, Jon Hess, Seamus Grooms, Greg Mecca, Craig Katz and Jesse Hubbard.

Chris Massey's greatness with Princeton lacrosse was shared with one of the best collegiate classes in the sport's history and especially with his fellow attackmen Jon Hess and Jesse Hubbard.

It was only fitting, then, that Massey was surrounded by many of those same players this past Saturday night, 15 years after they last played together, as he stepped out of the shadows and into the spotlight of a major honor of his own.

Massey was inducted into the Long Island Lacrosse Hall of Fame Saturday night. The Long Island Hall of Fame is overseen by the Long Island Metropolitan Lacrosse Foundation, a chapter of U.S. Lacrosse.

Massey played with Hess and Hubbard as Princeton's attack unit in 1996, 1997 and 1998, when they were sophomores, juniors and seniors. Princeton won the NCAA championship all three years, going 43-2 overall and 18-0 in the Ivy League during that stretch.

After helping Garden City High School to two state championships, Massey came to Princeton in 1995. That season ended with the only NCAA tournament loss of his career, in an NCAA quarterfinal game at Syracuse in which he scored four goals.

By the time his college career was over, Massey would score 146 goals, ranking second all-time at Princeton behind Hubbard's 163. He scored 31 career NCAA tournament goals, which ranked ninth in Division I when he graduated.

He also ranks fifth all-time at Princeton with 192 career points.

After Princeton, Massey played for seven seasons in Major League Lacrosse, winning the 2003 championship with the Long Island Lizards.
