Under new head coach Lisa Sweeney, the Tigers will play a 48-game regular-season schedule, making stops up and down the East Coast from the opening-weekend tournament in Jacksonville through the traditional regular-season ending trip to Cornell.
The schedule includes six home dates, with four Ivy League dates among those and two against regional foes in Villanova and Lehigh.
When the Mountain Hawks come to town on April 17, Sweeney will meet her alma mater, from which she graduated in 2009. She will be the second of Princeton's five coaches in program history to coach against her alma mater after 18-season head coach Cindy Cohen led the Tigers against Temple 33 times, last in her final season of 2000.
Along with five freshmen, the Tigers have 14 returners from last year's team. Among those are all three pitchers to enter the circle last season, in seniors Alex Peyton and Liza Kuhn and sophomore Meredith Brown. Peyton is also Princeton's top returning hitter for average, batting .286 last year, along with a team-best seven home runs.
After getting their seasoning with the pre-conference tournaments in Jacksonville, Fla., Baltimore and Dover, Del., Princeton will make its 2013 debut at the Class of 1895 Field on March 30 against Brown.
