Release: 11/01/2012

Hurricane Sandy has come and gone, and after a few hectic days of scrambling to clean up, Princeton's athletic facilities are ready for a big weekend of events.

The Princeton area was spared the worst of the storm, which devastated much of the Jersey Shore and New York City. Still, the University was closed for three days as power outages affected the entire area, as did downed trees.

The forecast for the weekend is nearly perfect, with sunny skies and temperatures in the 50s. With the arrival of good weather and with the sufficient return of power, all of Princeton's scheduled events for this weekend will take place at their originally scheduled time and venue.

There will be six events on campus:

* women's volleyball will host Brown Friday night and Yale Saturday at 5 at Dillon Gym. Princeton is currently 8-2 in the Ivy League, two games behind 10-0 Yale. Penn is the only other team mathematically alive in the race at 7-3, and the Quakers host Yale Friday night.

* the field hockey team hosts Penn Saturday at 11. A win would give the Tigers the outright Ivy title, though Princeton has already clinched at least a tie for the championship and has already earned the league's automatic NCAA tournament bid

* the football team hosts Penn Saturday at 1. Princeton, Penn and Harvard are all tied for first place in the league at 3-1 with three games to play; Penn hosts Harvard next weekend. The Community and Staff Day festivities scheduled for Jadwin Gym prior to the game have been postponed and will take place on Nov. 17 prior to the football game against Dartmouth. The Princeton ticket office will be closed on Friday, Nov. 2. Fans interested in purchasing tickets can get them at the door beginning at 12 noon on Saturday.

* the women's soccer team hosts Penn Saturday at 4. The Tigers have already clinched at least a share of the Ivy title, and a win or tie over Penn would mean the outright championship and the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Penn would earn a share of the title with a win over Princeton and the automatic bid with a win over Princeton and a Dartmouth loss or tie with Brown. Should Penn and Dartmouth win, then Princeton, Penn and Dartmouth would be tri-champions and a random draw would determine the automatic bid

* the men's soccer team hosts Penn Saturday at 7. Princeton is currently in fourth place in the league, with Ivy games remaining against Penn (0-5) and Yale (1-2-2).

Admission to all of the events other than football is free.
