"I was pleased with our first day of competition," Princeton first-year head coach Billy Pate said. "Matija (Pecotic, ranked 67th nationally) set a good tone today as he obviously came back from the summer having worked hard and well prepared. He's playing with a great deal of confidence right now already. I was also impressed with Michael Katz having to play three singles matches and coming up victorious in all of them. He brings a lot to this team in terms of his enthusiasm and heart so it was gratifying to see him have success. Florin Radu also battled through some tough matches to advance and showed great promise. I would've like to have seen a bit better execution with some of the doubles but it's early and we'll get to work on that next week. However, our guys in the top doubles draw looked strong and we'll see if they can continue that trend tomorrow."
