About Princeton Athletics
The Princeton University Department of Athletics is committed to its core philosophies of having intercollegiate athletics serve as an extension of the overall educational mission of the institution and that, for the student-athletes, participation in intercollegiate athletics at Princeton University is a co-curricular experience. These philosophies are at the heart of the Department's official motto: "Education Through Athletics."

Princeton's Department of Athletics sponsors 38 Division I teams that compete primarily in the Ivy League. Princeton's nearly 1,000 student-athletes represent 17 percent of the undergraduate student body. Princeton won 10 Ivy League titles during the 2011-12 academic year to help it to its 26th straight Ivy League unofficial all-sports championship. Princeton also had three national champions in 2011-12 - the men's squash team's CSA national championship, Jonathan Yergler's individual championship in the epee at the NCAA Fencing Championships and Donn Cabral's steeplechase victory at the NCAA men's outdoor track national championships, all of which helped Princeton to extend its run of having a team or individual championship to 41 straight years. Princeton has been the highest finishing non-scholarship school in the NACDA Director's Cup standings in 16 of the last 18 seasons.
