BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (6/17/12) - Princeton men's track & field athlete Eddie Owens qualified for the 2012 International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Junior Championships by finishing second at the USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships held this weekend at Indiana University.

The World Juniors will be held in Barcelona, Spain July 10-15.

The top two finishers in each event automatically qualified for the World Juniors, which will be held July 10-15 in Barcelona, Spain. To be eligible for the USA and World Juniors, athletes can not turn 20-years-old during the 2012 calendar year.

Owens, who completed his freshman year at Princeton a few weeks ago, finished second in the steeplechase with a time of 9:13.08. He competed in the NCAA East Regional in the event last month.

Now a sophomore, Matt McDonald just missed making the World Juniors as he finished third in the 10,000. McDonald clocked in at 31:05.71. He missed making the top two by just 0.16 seconds. McDonald was a second-team All-Ivy League honoree in cross country this past fall and ran PRs in the mile, 3000 and 5000 this collegiate season.

Adam Bragg, also from the Class of 2015, cleared a PR in the pole vault of 5.10 to finish fourth in the event. He easily cleared 5.00 on his first attempt and reached 5.10 on his second attempt. The Ivy League pole vault runner-up bested his previous mark of 5.06 set at the Larry Ellis Invitational this past April.

Also competing this weekend was Joe Stilin '12 and Trevor Van Ackeren '12. The pair ran the 5000 at the American Milers Club High Performance Series in Indianapolis, Ind. Stilin ran 3:40.13 to finish 10th, while Van Ackeren was 12th at 3:45.50.
