The No. 14 Princeton women's water polo team will host its
home finale Friday, April 6 versus No. 20 Hartwick (23-8 overall, 3-3 Eastern
Division) at 7 p.m. in DeNunzio Pool. The game also marks the Tigers (21-4)
annual Senior Night ceremony, where the program will honor the graduating
Last Time Out: The
Tigers remained perfect in Southern Division play with a 13-9 victory on the
road at conference rival George Washington on Mar. 30, improving to 5-0 in Southern
action. The following day, a sluggish start was too much for the Tigers to
overcome as they were edged 7-6 by Maryland. Both Princeton and the Terps were
tied for No. 12 in the nation entering the weekend contest.
On Deck: Princeton
heads next to the Southern Championships from April 13-15 in Lewisberg, Pa. The
CWPA Eastern Championships will run two weeks later, from April 27-29.
Thanks for the
Memories!: Friday's game marks the final home game for the Tiger seniors
Katlin Poladian, Kristen Ward and Audrey Zak. The trio has been instrumental in
Princeton posting its best start in program history, including a 14-game
unbeaten streak to open the year.
Perfect at Home: After
12 consecutive games on the road, the Tigers return home for their final game
at DeNunzio Pool in 2012. Princeton, who is 9-0 at home this year, will look to
remain perfect at home versus Hartwick Friday.
Scouting No. 20
Hartwick: No. 20 Hartwick (23-8 overall, 3-3 Western Division) concluded
its nine-game West Coast road swing with a perfect 4-0 weekend at the Cal State
Bakersfield Roadrunner Invitational III. During that span, the Hawks went 7-2. Defensively,
Hayley Cox has taken the bulk of the Hawks' minutes in the cage this season. In
15 appearances, Cox has 105 saves and allowed 153 goals against for a 9.81
goals against average. Lisa Bass' 40 goals in 25 games played leads the
Hartwick offense. Shannon Leonard has dished a team-leading 26 assists and
Jemma Dendy Young has made a team-best 48 steals.
