All-Ivy fencer Hannah Safford, on the eve of the NCAA championships, and reigning open crew National Coach of the Year Lori Dauphiny join the latest edition of TigerCast.
Safford has helped the Princeton women to Ivy League championships in each of the last three years, and she will lead the Tigers into the 2012 NCAA Championships, held Thursday-Sunday at The Ohio State University. The men and women will compete as a single team, and they are viewed as one of the favorites after qualifying the maximum number of fencers. Safford talks about the growth of the program and the upcoming weekend on the eve of the national championships.
Dauphiny has led Princeton to NCAA gold twice in the last six years, and she guided Princeton to a sweep at the 2011 EAWRC Championships, including a victory in the V8 final. Her team wil come into the 2012 season ranked third and riding a 27-meet win streak, but it will also come in with far less experience than in the previous years. Dauphiny talks about the brilliant conclusion to 2011 and the prospects and possibilities within the 2012 season.
