The Tar Heels jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning, using four hits and a walk to account for four runs. Ben Bunting drove in a pair of runs in the inning with a single and another single and a sac fly drove in the other runs. UNC added an unearned run in the third inning, then scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings.

Princeton’s two hits came on singles from senior Spencer Lucian in the second inning, sophomore Jack Murphy in the eighth, and junior Adrian Turnham in the ninth inning.

Senior Steven Miller took the loss, allowing five runs, four of which were earned, on six hits in five innings. Freshmen David Palms and Tim Feess both pitched in relief. Tar Heel starter Patrick Johnson got the win with five innings of one-hit ball.
