Princeton Hockey Summer Signings

The offseason has seen a number of signings and trades for former Princeton hockey players. In case you missed all those tweets, here is an update on what's been happening this summer.

Andrew Ammon '14 signed a one-year contract with the Providence Bruins. This past season Ammon played through injury and tied for the scoring title with 21 points. He was named first-team All-Ivy League as the team's assistant captain. (no report available).

Jack Berger '14 has signed with the Nybro Vikings IF in the Division I league in Sweden. A two-time Princeton captain Berger never missed a game at Princeton, playing in 127 games and scoring 53 points. The organization has commented "he has great leadership qualities that we believe will enhance the team." (release)

Andrew Calof '14 has signed a one-year contract with Skelleftea of the Swedish Hockey League. Calof signed a tryout agreement with Utica (AHL) at the end of his collegiate career but did not play after Vancouver failed to make the playoffs. Despite an injury his senior year at Princeton, Calof earned his fourth straight scoring title with 21 points in 21 games.  (release)

Taylor Fedun '11 signed a one-year contract with the San Jose Sharks. A part of the Oilers organization since he graduated Princeton, Fedun was a fan favorite with the team. Although the Oilers called him up for just four games last year, he scored two goals in those games. Fedun has played 135 games with Oklahama City (AHL) and had 65 points (18g, 47a) and 81 penalty minutes. He missed the 2011-12 season after breaking his leg in an Oilers preseason game. (release)

Kyle Hagel '08 signed a new deal with the Charlotte Checkers (AHL). Since graduating from Princeton, Hagel has spent most of his career in the AHL with stops at Rochester, Rockford, Peoria before playing in his hometown of Hamitlon, Ont., during the 2012-13 season. Last year he played with Portland logging five assists and 162 penalty minutes in 38 games. Hagel is also the co-founder of Shnarped Hockey app (release).

Zane Kalemba '10 will spend the 2014-15 season with Denmark's Rungsted. Kalemba has played in Eurupe the last two years, first with GKS Katowice in Poland and with HC Banska Bystrica in Slovakia last year. He played alongside former teammate Eric Meland '13 last year in Slovakia where the team reached the playoffs. Kalemba recorded a 2.42 GAA and a .930 save percentage during the regular season. Mike Moore '08 signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Washington Capitals. Moore who has been a captain of his last four AHL teams will play for the Capitals Hershey Bears (AHL). He has totaled 109 points on 26 gaols and 83 assists in 378 AHL career games with Worcester, Milwaukee and Providence. Moore has also been the AHL Man of the Year three times. Last year as captain of the Providence Bruins, Moore played in 87 games, including playoffs, with 24 points and 128 penalty minutes. Moore was called up for six games with San Jose in 2010-11 where he scored a goal and took seven penalty minutes. (release)

Kevin Ross '14 has earned an invitation to the NHL Exposure Combine in Buffalo in August. He is one of just 55 former ice hockey players that was invited to the officiating event. The Combine looks to develop new officials and expose those with passion and knowledge of the game to a possible new career. (link).

Michael Sdao '13 resigned a two-year deal with the Ottawa Senators. The two-year, two-way deal was signed in late June. Sdao has been with the Binghamton Senators (AHL) since his Princeton career ended in 2013. This past season the 2009 Ottawa draft pick played in 61 games scoring six goals and five assists with 171 penalty minutes. (release)
