Princeton University is among several area colleges, universities and private schools hosting events for the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games, which will be held in Mercer County June 14-21. Nearly 3,500 athletes; 1,000 coaches and delegates; 10,000 volunteers; and 70,000 spectators and families are expected. The University will host swimming and track and field events Monday through Friday, June 16-20, at DeNunzio Pool, east of Jadwin Gymnasium; and Weaver Stadium. Awards ceremonies for these events will be held in Hodes Plaza, between DeNunzio Pool, Jadwin Gym and Caldwell Fieldhouse.

Over 80 members of the University community will serve as volunteers on campus during the games in a range of capacities including competition escorts, awards preparations assistants, awards escorts, food and beverage attendants, family services attendants, and Welcome Day assistants. Volunteers are still needed to support the games in several locations; if you are interested, please email volunteer@2014specialolympics.org and state that you are a member of the Princeton University community.

The athletic events are free and open to the public. Do not bring any bags or coolers. Concessions will be available at DeNunzio Pool and Weaver Field.
