Women's Track Earns Points in All Events Entered on Final Day of ECACs

PRINCETON, N.J. (5/18/14) - The Princeton women's track & field team earned points in every event it was in today, the final day of the ECAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Weaver Stadium.

The all-senior relay of Kristin Smoot, Kacie O’Neil, Molly Higgins and Henrietta Miers placed fourth in the 4x800 with a time of 8:49.01.The relay shaved more than six seconds off its prelim time from yesterday. The meet began with 24 relay teams, being narrowed down to nine after the prelims.

Higgins continued her pursuits in the 1500 final, along with freshman Lizzie Bird.The pair made the final after running in prelims yesterday (prelim times not available). Bird finished in fourth place with a 4:27.27 and Higgins ran 4:28.77 for sixth place.

Junior Kim Mackay was fifth in the 800 final at 2:11.57 to get four points towards a team score. Mackay ran 2:08.06 in the prelims, that featured 25 competitors, to qualify for today's final.

As of 6 p.m., final team scores were not available.

Up next for the Tigers is finding out who has qualified for the NCAA East Regional. The final descending order list will be posted at 3 p.m., on the NCAA Web site. Challenges and declarations follow with the list of accepted student-athletes released on Thursday at 1p.m., on the NCAA site.

The NCAA East Regional will be held May 29-31 at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville.
