Juniors Cody Kessel and Tony Ensbury were named to the 2014 All-EIVA First Team, while teammates Pat Schwagler and Devin Stearns were both named to the Second Team, it was announced April 22 by the EIVA.

The quartet has led Princeton to the EIVA semifinals for the third straight season; the Tigers will play second-seeded Harvard Thursday at 5 pm. A full preview will be available Wednesday on GoPrincetonTigers.com.

“I’m very excited to see Princeton so well represented on the All-EIVA team,” head coach Sam Shweisky said. “Winning 15 regular-season matches is the most in more than a decade, and it was a total team effort. It was nice to see so many of our guys get the recognition they deserve by our league coaches.”

This is the third straight year for Kessel on the All-EIVA First Team. He ranks third in the league in both kills (3.54) and points (4.0) per set. He enters the postseason on the strength of four straight 15-kill matches, and he has hit over .300 11 times in the last 18 matches. Kessel, a former EIVA Newcomer of the Year, ranks 24th nationally in kills and 30th in points.

This is Ensbury’s debut on the All-EIVA team, though he is a two-time selection to the U.S. Junior National team. He ranks fourth in the league with 2.4 digs per set, though that total ranks 13th nationally. He had a season-high 17 digs against Harvard, and he enters the postseason off three straight double-digit dig performances.

Schwagler is another former EIVA Newcomer of the Year, and he ranks in the Top 5 in both kills and points in the league. The senior tri-captain has had some of his best performances of the season against Harvard, including a 22-kill, eight-dig showing at Harvard. He averages 1.6 digs, and he ranks in the Top 10 nationally with .42 aces per set.

Stearns leads Princeton in hitting percentage among non-middles (.299), and he ranks sixth in the league in kills per set (3.0). He has had some of his best performances against the league’s top teams, especially an 18-kill night in Princeton’s 3-2 win over Penn State.
