PRINCETON, N.J. (3/13/14) - The Princeton women's lacrosse team continues its tough as nails non-conference schedule as it hosts No. 6 Virginia on Saturday, March 15 at noon. The Cavaliers are the third ranked team the Tigers have faced this season.

EYE ON THE TIGERS
Princeton is 1-3 on the season and coming off of a 14-13 overtime loss at Brown in the first Ivy League game of the season. The last two games have gone into overtime, with Princeton falling in both. Of the four opponents, two were ranked.

Junior Erin McMunn sits atop the scoring column with 12 points on six goals and six assists. Sophomore Alexandra Bruno has scored a team-high nine goals and adds two assists for 11 points. Junior Erin Slifer and freshman Olivia Hompe add nine points apiece, while freshman Anna Doherty chips in eight. Senior Mary-Kate Sivilli has recorded six points, senior Sarah Lloyd and sophomore Anya Gersoff have scored five times each. On the draw McMunn and Slifer are the leaders with 12 and nine draw controls each. Senior captains Colleen Smith and Sarah Lloyd have seven apiece and are both the team’s ground ball leaders with six each. Smith also has the most caused turnovers with six to her credit. Senior Caroline Franke has started in goal for all four games. She has a .355 save percentage and a 12.03 goals against average. Junior Annie Woehling has come in relief on two games. She has a .250 save percentage and a 10.44 GAA.

THE SERIES
Virginia owns a one-game lead over Princeton in the all-time series, 16-15. This is the first time in four years that the Cavs visit Princeton, as the last three meetings have been in Charlottesville. The teams split 9-7 games the last two years with Virginia winning last year.  Thirteen of the 31 games in the series (42%) have been decided by one goal.

SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS
Virginia is coming off of a dominating 22-9 win over William & Mary from Wednesday night, just the second non ranked opponent it has faced. The Cavaliers are 3-4 overall and ranked No. 6 in the IWLCA poll and No. 14 in the Inside Lacrosse poll. Virginia opened the season with a one-goal loss to Northwestern and also played ranked teams in Loyola, Syracuse, Penn State and North Carolina.

Courtney Swan leads the team offensively with 31 points on 22 goals and nine assists. She’s also the leader in draws with 41 to her credit - winning nearly 40 percent of her teams’ draws. Casey Bocklet has 21 points on 16 goals and five assists while Liza Blue has 20 points on 18 goals and two assists. Morgan Stephens and Maddy Keeshan chip in 16 and 15 points, respectively. Defender Lauren Goerz and middie Daniele Eppler are the top two in caused turnovers. Liz Colgan has started in goal in all seven games and has played all but seven minutes. She has a 12.79 GAA and a .476 save percentage, making 80 saves goals on 168 shots.
