Schreiber, MacDonald Named To Tewaaraton Watch List
Princeton-Johns Hopkins Game Notes
Tom Schreiber is a veteran of this. Mike MacDonald is a newcomer.
Schreiber and MacDonald were among 52 men's players named to the Tewaaraton Trophy watchlist Thursday night. The Tewaaraton Trophy is awarded to the top men's and women's player in college lacrosse each year.
While MacDonald, a junior, is in his first year of being on the watchlst, Schreiber is a returning Tewaaraton finalist, along with Albany's Lyle Thompson.
MacDonald is one of the top finishers in the country. He has five goals in Princeton's first two games this season and 70 for his career, and he is on pace to finish in the top three all-time at Princeton in goals in a career, with possibly the chance to make a run at Jesse Hubbard's school record of 163.
A year ago MacDonald earned first-team All-Ivy League honors after scoring 43 goals, the sixth-best total in program history.
Schreiber is a two-time first-team All-America and three-time first-team All-Ivy selection. He currently has 80 goals and 79 assists, leaving him one assist away from becoming the third player in program history to reach at least 80 in both categories.
Schreiber is already Princeton's career leader in points in a career by a midfielder. He's led the team in scoring for three straight years, and he has a team-best 10 points on four goals and six assists in the first two games this year.
Princeton takes on Johns Hopkins Saturday at noon on Sherrerd Field at Class of 1952 Stadium.
