Tom Schreiber's big opening day of the 2014 season earned him the Ivy League's first weekly award, and his three-plus years at Princeton have earned him another career recognition.

Schreiber, the two-time first-team All-America middie, led Princeton to a 12-10 win over Hofstra with three goals and two assists, of which two goals and one assist came during the 8-1 Princeton run that overcame a four-goal third-quarter deficit. Schreiber's third goal came with 6:46 to play and snapped a 9-9 tie to put the Tigers ahead for good.

His performance made him the first Ivy League Player of the Week for 2014.

Beyond that, Schreiber was also named one of 20 candidates for the Senior Class Award, given each year to recognize excellence in the "four C's" - classroom, character, competition, community - among senior athletes.

Schreiber is Princeton's career leader in points among midfielders and was the No. 1 overall selection in the 2014 Major League Lacrosse draft. In addition, he is a two-time team captain whose service efforts have seen him give his time literally near and far, in endeavors on-campus and internationally.

Schreiber serves as president of the Ivy Athletes Charity Team (IACT) and has worked with the Trenton Bridge Program and Ann's Love Builds, the foundation in memory of Ann Bates, late wife of Princeton head coach Chris Bates.

He also works with FIelds of Growth and has travelled to Uganda to work on to building the national lacrosse program there, as well as on educational and economic initiatives there. Schreiber will also help coach the Ugandans at the 2014 World Championships in Denver.

The Senior Class Award field will be narrowed from 20 to 10 in the next few weeks. The winner will be honored at the Final Four in Baltimore Memorial Day Weekend.
