* Each team has two matches remaining before facing Princeton, Fresno State Thursday against Idaho and Friday against Washington State, and Washington State additionally against San Diego Saturday.
Though Princeton has made many trips to the West Coast, the Tigers will be making their first trip to Washington this weekend when they play a pair of matches at Washington State against Fresno State and the host Cougars.
Princeton has faced each team once in its history, though neither time involving any of the current players. Princeton defeated WSU 5-3 at San Diego State in 2000 and lost 7-0 at Fresno State in 2005.
The Tigers have alternated wins and losses this season and will look to break that pattern Saturday against the Bulldogs, whose 1-5 record has taken a hit due to plenty of tough competition. Four of Fresno State's first six opponents were ranked, and take on those challenges has earned the Bulldogs a No. 66 national ranking, five spots in front of Princeton on the latest ITA list released Tuesday. Fresno State also boasts the only individually ranked player among the three teams this weekend in Sophie Watts, who is No. 41 on the singles list.
The Fresno State match will give Princeton a chance at its first win of the season against a fellow ITA-ranked opponent. The Tigers came up short against Denver at home and then Columbia at the ECAC Tournament. The Washington State match will give Princeton the opportunity for its third win all-time against a Pac-12 foe at the time of the match. Princeton defeated Colorado last season and Oregon in 1998.
Following the match, the Tigers will return home for four straight contests against New York and New Jersey opponents before heading out on the road for their last three bouts, against Ohio State, current No. 14 Miami (Fla.) and Florida International before beginning Ivy play at the end of March.
