PRINCETON, N.J. (2/6/14) - Princeton is looking to gain ground in the ECAC standings as it heads to the North Country to face No. 3 Clarkson and St. Lawrence this weekend, Feb. 7 & 8 in one of the final three weekends of the regular season.

EYE ON THE TIGERS
The Tigers are sixth in the ECAC with 16 points, just three back from St. Lawrence, and five points out of fourth place. Princeton is 11-9-3 on the season and recently split it series against Harvard and Dartmouth last weekend, falling to Harvard 3-2 on a late goal and defeating Dartmouth 3-2.

Seniors Denna Laing and Sally Butler are the team's leading scorers. Laing has a team-high 10 goals and nine assists for 19 points, while Butler has team-high 13 assists and four goals for 17 points. Sophomore Jaimie McDonell adds 14 points with six goals and eight assists. Defenders Rose Alleva and Ali Pankowski have 13 points apiece and Cassidy Tucker leads the rookies in scoring with 12 points on six goals and six assists. Sophomore Kimberly Newell has started in all but two games in goal. She has a .902 save percentage and a 2.83 goals against average.

PRINCETON/ST. LAWRENCE SERIES
Princeton holds a six-game lead over St. Lawrence in the all-time series since the teams first met in January 1982. The Tigers are 27-21-3 in the series and 15-10-1 when playing at Appleton Arena. The Saints have had the edge as of late, winning the last four games including a 4-2 game during the last meeting in Canton.

SCOUTING THE SAINTS
St. Lawrence sits one place ahead of Princeton in the ECAC standings with 19 points on an 8-5-3 record. The Saints are 9-15-3 overall and had a five-game unbeaten streak come to an end this past Tuesday at Syracuse, losing 3-0.

A defender leads the Saints in scoring with senior Mel Desrochers' 26 points being a team best. She has 18 assists to go along with eight goals and is the third-highest scoring defender in the nation. Senior Rylee Smith has also scored eight goals and adds 11 assists for 19 points, while freshman Brooke Webster contributes 17 points on seven goals and 10 assists. Four other players have more than 10 points. Junior Carmen MacDonald has started in 21 of 27 games in goal and has a 9-9-3 record. MacDonald owns a .934 save percentage, 10th best nationally, and a 2.05 GAA.

PRINCETON/CLARKSON SERIES
Princeton owns 14-8-1 lead in the all-time series since the teams first met in January of 1982. The Tigers won the last meeting, a 4-1 game in Potsdam, ending a four-game losing skid to the Golden Knights. Princeton is 9-4 when playing at Cheel Arena.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS
Clarkson is ranked No. 3 in the latest USCHO poll, the highest ranked ECAC team with a 21-4-3 record. THe Golden Knights are 12-2-2 in the league and in second place in the standings with 26 points, just two out of first place with Harvard. Clarkson is on a 10-game unbeaten streak that dates back to Dec. 7. Last weekend the team defeated Union 5-0 and Rensselaer 5-1 on the road. Clarkson has the second-best scoring offense and defense in the nation, averaging 3.79 goals per game while allowing 1.11 gpg.

Senior Jamie Lee Rattray's 48 points is the best in the nation. She has 25 goals and 23 assists in 28 games. Sophomore Erin Ambroise is the nation's highest scoring defender with 40 points on 30 assists and 10 goals. Rattray is the nation's leader in goals per game, while Ambrose is the leader in assists. Three seniors follow in the scoring column: Carly Mercer and Brittany Styner have 35 points apiece while Vanessa Gagnon has 25. Six others are in double digits. Senior Erica Howe has started in goal in every game. She has a 1.08 GAA and a .941 save percentage, both of which are in the top five in the nation. Howe also sports 10 shutouts.
