PRINCETON, N.J. (12/30/13) - The Princeton women's hockey team comes back from the holidays to host Connecticut in a pair of games this week. The teams will meet on Thursday, Jan. 2 at 7 p.m., and Friday, Jan. 3 at 4 p.m., at Hobey Baker Rink.

Princeton returns to action looking to build off of where it left off in early December. The Tigers defeated Rensselaer and Union by matching 4-1 scores to bring the team’s record to 7-6-2.

Four seniors sit atop the scoring column with three leading with 10 points apiece. Olivia Mucha has a team-best seven goals and three assists in 12 games. Denna Laing has four goals and six assists while Sally Butler has a team-high nine assists and one goal. Defender Rose Alleva and sophomore Jaimie McDonell are next on the list with nine points apiece. Sophomore Kimberly Newell has played in 13 of the team’s 15 games. She sports a 5-6-2 record with an .893 save percentage and a 3.46 goals against average. Junior Ashley Holt has seen action in five games and is 2-0 with a .922 save percentage and a 1.99 GAA.

Princeton owns a 9-2-2 edge in the all-time series with Connecticut since the teams first met in 1979. Last year the teams split a series in Storrs with UConn winning 5-1 in Game 1 and Princeton winning 4-1 in Game 2.

UConn hits the ice for the first time in over a month. The Huskies last saw action at the Nutmeg Classic on Nov. 29 & 30 losing one-goal games to both Yale and RIT. With a 4-10-2 overall record, UConn is looking to snap a five-game winless skid, that dates back to Nov. 19.

Sophomore Michela Cava leads the team in scoring with 15 points on five goals and a team-high 10 assists. Juniors Sarah MacDonnell and Kayla Campero each have six goals. MacDonnell adds eight assists for 14 points, while Campero chips in six assists for 12 points. UConn utilizes a two-goalie system splitting time between senior Sarah Moses and sophomore Elaine Chuli. Moses is 2-5-1 with a .909 save percentage and a 3.43 GAA in nine games. Chuli has an .895 save percentage and a 3.94 GAA in eight games with a 2-5-1 record.
