The five-time reigning Ivy League champion Princeton men's swimming and diving team opened its dual meet season with victories over both Cornell and Penn Saturday in Ithaca.

The dual meet opened Friday with the diving competition, and Princeton took three of the top four spots in both the 1- and 3-meter events. On the 1-meter board, junior Michael Manhard took second with 295.35 points, while senior Mark O’Connell (295.25) and freshman Nathan Makarewicz (287.10) finished third and fourth, respectively.

Strand, the reigning Ivy League champion in the 100 back, won the event in 49.58, while Maher took third in 50.25. Pohlmann followed with a third-place finish in the 100 breast in 57.66.

Bennett got Princeton back in the winner’s column by taking the 200 fly in 1:51.19, while reigning Ivy League 50 free champion Harrison Wagner won the 50 in 20.58. Sophomore Jeremy Wong added a third-place finish in 21.03. Wagner followed that by finishing third in the 100 free (46.05), one spot behind D’Alessandro (45.94).
