Coming off the team’s 19th NCAA appearance, four Princeton field hockey players were named to the 2013 Longstreth/NFHCA All-Region Mid-Atlantic Team, it was announced Tuesday.
Teresa Benvenuti earned her second straight All-Region First Team accolade following her eight-goal and eight-assist sophomore campaign. The two-time First-Team All-Ivy selection recorded her first career hat trick versus Dartmouth on Sept. 21 and scored three game-winning goals during the year.
Joining Benvenuti on the first team was Ivy Offensive Player of the Year and unanimous first team selection Michelle Cesan. She served as the Tigers’ offensive leader with 10 goals and 10 assists, an Ivy-best, for 30 points. The senior midfielder concluded her career as a four-time conference and regional first teamer.
Rounding out Princeton’s All-Region First Team honorees was Ivy Defensive Player of the Year senior Julia Reinprecht. The back closed out her tenure as a four-time All-Ivy and All-Region First Team recipient. A force on both ends of the field, she had seven goals, including a game-winner, and an assist, while contributing to three shutouts in 2013.
Ivy co-Rookie of the Year and first team selection Annabeth Donovan was the final Tiger to be honored, placing on the All-Region Second Team. After coming in off the bench in Princeton’s first two matches, the freshman started the following 17 and transitioned from an attacker to serving as the team’s center back. She had four assists and a goal, while helping guide the Tigers to an eight-game winning streak over the second half of the season.
Princeton concluded the year winning its 22nd Ivy League title behind a 14-5, 7-0 Ivy record.
