Week #3 National Poll

PRINCETON, N.J. (10/3/13) - The Princeton men's cross country team returns to the course this weekend as it competes in two meets. The top group will head to the Notre Dame Invitational, while the rest of the team will run at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh.

The Tigers moved up one position in the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Assocation national poll, taking the No. 9 slot. The team continues to hold the No. 1 spot in the Mid-Atlantic region for the third straight week.

Princeton will race in the Blue Race on the Notre Dame Golf Course. The five-mile race is set to start at 5 p.m. The Tigers are one of eight nationally ranked teams in the race. They will be joined by No. 7 Tulsa, No. 16 Colorado State, No. 21 New Mexico, No. 22 Notre Dame, No. 24 Virginia, No. 26 Florida State and No. 30 Columbia.

Last year at Notre Dame Princeton finished in second place with a score of 139, behind Tulsa and in front of eight schools in the national poll. Alejandro Arroyo Yamin paced the Tigers, running 23:57 to finish 10th overall. Chris Bendtsen ran 24:06 to place 17th, Michael Franklin clocked in at 24:19 for 28th, followed by Jonathan Vitez at 24:22 and Matt McDonald at 24:31. Scorers Arroyo Yamin, Bendtsen and McDonald will be making a return to the course. Senior Tyler Udland and junior Sam Berger ran in the blue race last year and will be back again, they'll be joined by freshman William Bertrand, senior George Galasso, junior Sam Pons and sophomore Michael Sublette.

At Paul Short, the Tigers will compete in the BrownRace. The 8k race is scheduled to begin at 12:15 p.m., on the Goodman campus. Nine runners have been selected to compete, including juniors Bradley Paternostro and Eddie Owens and sophomore Brian Poirer.
