The Princeton sprint football team will open the 2013 campaign live on ESPN3 at Mansfield on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m. This will be the first national broadcast in program history.

The Tigers return a sturdy group of veterans including All-CSFL selections in Lawrence Diao, Chris McCord and John Wolfe, along with captain Bob Dougherty.

The experienced returners will be looked to lead a group of 15 newcomers who be called upon to be immediate contributors.

Princeton went 0-7 in 2012, but saw significant progress last year. The Tigers remained within a possession in four contests, including suffering an overtime loss to Post.

This year the Tigers will hit the road for five contests, while hosting a pair of games at Princeton Stadium. The home opener is on Friday, Sept. 20 versus Navy at 7 p.m. and Senior Night is slated for Friday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m.

In the last meeting between Princeton and Mansfield on Sept. 14, 2012 at home, the Mountaineers used a second half push to defeat the Tigers 23-16. Princeton held a 7-3 lead in the first quarter, but Mansfield managed to hold a slight 11-10 advantage at halftime. The Mountaineers’ capitalized on a fourth quarter interception to ultimately top the Tigers.
