PRINCETON, N.J. (9/11/13) - The Princeton cross country teams get the 2013season underway this Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Delaware Blue Hen Invitational at White Clay Creek State Park. The women's 6k race is at 10:30 a.m., with the men's 8k race at 11 a.m.

The Princeton men's team is ranked No. 10 in the preseason national poll, the highest ranking the program has received in the preseason. The Tigers finished 11th at the NCAA Championship a year ago. The team returns four of its five scorers from 2012 including its top three in seniors Chris Bendtsen, Alejandro Arroyo Yamin and Tyler Udland. The team has depth as with a number of veterans vying for the final two scoring slots. Senior Jonathan Vitez was a consistant scorer last year, and George Galasso is back after taking last season off. National champion from indoor track & field's distance medley relay Michael Williams as well as juniors Matt McDonald, Eddie Owens and Sam Pons should battle for scoring position. The sophomore class highlighted by Sam Berger and David Pugliese has potential and proved it during track season. The team also brings in four freshmen.
The Princeton women enter the season ranked No. 24 in the national preseason poll. The squad did lose its top runner in All-America Greta Feldman, as well as scorers Alexis Mikaelian, Abby Levene and Mel Newberry. Princeton returns two runners that were named all-region last year in juniors Emily de La Bruyere and Jackie Nicholas. Also back after missing last season is senior Molly Higgins who had a great 2011 season. Returning veterans looking to make an impact are seniors Marissa Cummings and Clare Gallagher as well as juniors Lindsay Eysenbach and Erika Fluehr.
