PRINCETON, N.J. (8/28/13) - Former Princeton women's hockey player Kelly Cooke '13 has been selected by the Boston Blades in the 2013 Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL) Entry Draft.

Cooke was taken in Round 7, the 35th pick overall as the five teams in the league chose from a list of 67 prospective player.

“Kelly is small, but a crafty and quick forward who is coming back to her Boston roots," said Blades' head coach Digit Murphy, who was the head coach of the Brown women's hockey program from 1993-2011.

"It’s definitely an amazing opportunity, I am really honored to be drafted by the Blades, excited to play for the organization and with Digit," Cooke said. "I experienced her coaching first hand so I’m excited for the season to begin."

The CWHL is the premier women's hockey league in the world. The CWHL is a centrally funded league, meaning that all participating teams in the CWHL receive equal access to funding and are given the same opportunities to succeed. Every dollar goes toward building a league that is dedicated to raising the profile of women's hockey while providing a place where the best female hockey players in the world can come to train and compete.

The Blades open the season on Nov. 9 when it hosts Montreal at Merrimack College at 7 p.m.
