PRINCETON, N.J. (8/29/13) - Princeton head men's hockey coach Bob Prier is happy to announce that the team will travel to British Columbia for in-season competition during this upcoming 2013-14 season.

"We're really excited to make the trip to British Columbia this season," head coach Bob Prier said. "It's a great opportunity to bring Princeton hockey out West and allows our players from BC a trip home and the chance to show their teammates their hometowns."

The Tigers will compete in the Great Northwest Showcase in Burnaby, B.C. Princeton will face the University of British Columbi and Simon Fraser University on Jan. 3 & 4 in a pair of exhibition games. The Showcase will also feature North Dakota and will be held at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre.

The Showcase, now in its third year, is organized by the Burnaby Mountain Hockey Society, a non-profit organization that serves as the promotional and fundraising body of the SFU men’s hockey program.

Official game times and ticket information are not yet available.

Princeton's last international competition was during the 1995-96 season at the National Capital Tournament in Ottawa. Princeton was the tournament champion, defeating Ottawa 5-1 and Merrimack in overtime.

Notes

• This will be the Tigers' first visit to BC in the 113-year history of the program.

• The furthest West Princeton has played is Inglewood, Calif. when it competed at the Great Western Freeze Out in 1992-93 and again in 1994-95.

• Princeton has played five Canadien opponents (Laval, McGill, University of Montreal, Queen's and University of Toronto) in program history.
