Lindsay Graff and Matija Pecotic advanced to the mixed doubles semifinal, two wins short of a U.S. Open bid.

Princeton alum Matija Pecotic '13 and junior Lindsay Graff capped their run in the U.S. Open National Playoffs in New Haven, Conn., Friday evening.

The pair were in the mixed doubles bracket and came up just short in a third-set tiebreaker, 6-4, 6-7(5), 11-9 in Friday's semifinal against Matthew Brooklyn and Stephanie Wetmore, players from Great Britain and Canada respectively who played as undergrads at UCLA and then coached at Georgetown.

Brooklyn and Wetmore will play Saturday for a berth in the U.S. Open's mixed doubles draw in New York.

The Tiger duo spent quite a bit of time in New Haven over the past week, as both also competed in the U.S. Open National Playoffs in their respective singles draws. Graff won a quarterfinal match over the 13-player draw's No. 3 seed, 26-year-old Russian Nika Kukharchuk, 6-7(3), 6-4, 6-1. Fellow 20-year-old Nicole Melichar, the draw's No. 2 seed, defeated Graff in the semis 6-3, 4-6, 7-5.

Pecotic made it to the final before bowing out to 24-year-old Jeff Dadamo, a Texas A&M alum, 6-4, 6-4. Along the way, Pecotic picked up a 6-2, 6-4 semifinal win over 19-year-old Charles Boyce, the bracket's No. 4 seed, and a 6-3, 6-2 win in the quarters over the bracket's No. 3 seed, 23-year-old Virginia Tech alum Patrick Daciek.

Pecotic and Graff began play in the mixed doubles draw on Wednesday with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Kelcy McKenna, a 24-year-old Arizona State alumna, and Steve Robertson, a Boise State alum. In the quarters, Pecotic and Graff followed it up with a 6-2, 6-2 win over 26-year-old Vanderbilt alumna Taka Bertrand and 25-year-old North Central College alum Sam Sweeney.
