Release: 06/06/2013

Princeton senior Matija Pecotic was recognized as an ITA singles All-America when the organization confirmed the list on June 6.

Those who made the list qualified in one of three ways. The top 16 seeds in the NCAA singles tournament, as were those who were ranked in the top 20 on the final ITA singles list. Pecotic met both of those standards, coming in at No. 19 on the final ITA list released June 5. Those who made the final 16 of the NCAA singles tournament were also honored, and Pecotic was one match away from meeting all three ways of making the list.

Just 26 players from all of Division I met one of the three ways to become an ITA singles All-America. Further underlining the exclusivity of being an All-America, Pecotic is the first Tiger to do so since Ted Farnsworth '84 in 1984.

By winning his first-round NCAA singles match, Pecotic became the first Tiger to win an NCAA singles match since Reed Cordish '96 in 1996. That came after he was named the Ivy League Player of the Year for the third straight year, the first player in Ivy League men's tennis history to do so. Pecotic's season-ending No. 19 ranking since Farnsworth finished the 1984 season ranked No. 12.
