Coming off the program’s first NCAA national championship, the Princeton field hockey team will welcome five student-athletes to join the Tigers for the 2013 campaign. Head coach Kristen Holmes-Winn will announce each member of the Class of 2017 individually, so be sure to tune into GoPrincetonTigers.com over the coming weeks to meet the newest additions to the program.

"When you read the individual athlete bio and their comments on why they chose Princeton, you will see a theme: team, family and a winning tradition," said Holmes-Winn. "Our incoming freshmen recognize that when everyone is committed to giving their best and is willing to put the best interest of the team first happiness, success and trust follow. We are very lucky to have found five exceptional young women devoted to becoming their best in all areas of their life.  We welcome Cat Caro, Annabeth Donovan, Ellen Dobrijevic, Andrea Jenkins and Hailey Reeves into the Tiger family and look forward to watching their talents unfold in the classroom, in the community and on the hockey field!"

The third member of the incoming class to be introduced is midfielder Ellen Dobrijevic from Sydney, Australia.

"Ellen's family has a strong presence in the Sydney field hockey community, having founded a club through the University of Technology Sydney," said Holmes-Winn. "Ellen is a competitive runner with an impressive work capacity and from what we have seen from her film— her field hockey is pretty good too! We feel confident Ellen will adapt quickly to our style of field hockey and contribute great things on-and-off the field."

With top division experience throughout her prep career, Dobrijevic helped guide Pymble Ladies’ College to the grand final each season and four premierships. She also represented New South Wales in the state championships in the 400m hurdles, steeplechase and in cross country.

“I chose Princeton because of the great academics, field hockey and people. I am looking forward to getting there and launching into it all,” said Dobrijevic.

Dobrijevic played club field hockey since 2005, spending the last four years on the University of Technology Sydney’s top women’s team. She helped guide UTS to the premiership in 2012 and was awarded the Most Consistent Player honor.

In 2012, she made the U18 New South Wales All-Schools Team and helped guide the Sydney North team to the final at the state championship.

Get to Know Ellen Dobrijevic:

Favorite word: Tintinnabulation (the ringing of bells)
Most memorable field hockey moment: On the way to winning my first premiership in women’s hockey in 2009. We came from fourth place at the end of the rounds to score 12 unanswered goals in the final series. To cap it off, I was playing with my family, one goal started from me passing out of defense to my mom then onto my sister who scored!
Comedy or drama?: Comedy
Salty or sweet?: Sweet
Best part about being a field hockey player: Getting to play with or against so many different people and making friends while having such a great time.
Favorite sport to watch: Cricket, particularly the Ashes in Australia
What must Tiger Field Hockey fans know about you?: That I'm from Australia, I love my field hockey and I can't wait to be a Tiger!
