Coming off his 10-inning complete game performance, Princeton baseball junior Mike Ford earned his first career Ivy League Pitcher of the Week honor. The right-handed hurler guided the Tigers to a 5-2 victory at Cornell to win his fifth consecutive complete game and finish the year at 6-0.

The weekly honor marks the second of the year and fourth overall for Ford, as he was named Player of the Week on Apr. 9 and picked up Rookie of the Week twice in 2011.

In game one of Princeton’s final doubleheader of the year on Apr. 28, Ford tossed a career-high 10 innings and struck out four. During that span he scattered seven hits, a walk and gave up only one earned run to post an ERA of 0.90 in the outing.

While he anchored the defensive efforts, he also shone at the plate by coming up with a clutch 10th inning at-bat. Ford hit his second grand slam of the year to break up the seven-inning 1-1 tie and send home the game-winning run.

Ford concludes the year with a 0.98 ERA, the top ERA in the league this season and third-best all-time in Princeton history. He threw 32 strikeouts over 64 innings, while giving up only seven earned runs in nine starts. His five consecutive complete games ties him for No. 4 all-time program history.

The Tigers concluded the year at 14-28, 11-9 Ivy and tied for second in the Gehrig Division with Cornell.
