Princeton baseball pitcher/first baseman Mike Ford was named Ivy League Player of the Week for the first time in his career, it was announced Tuesday. Ford’s weekly recognition marks the first conference honoree for the Tigers this season and the third of his career, as he earned Rookie of the Week accolades twice in 2011.

Over five games, Ford led the Tigers both at the plate and on the mound. He was 9-for-19 with a .474 batting average, tallying three multi-hit games. He hit two home runs at Harvard on Apr. 7, including his second career grand slam, to record eight RBI and six runs last week. Ford also tallied two doubles and three walks, bringing his on-base percentage to .545 and slugging percentage to 1.000.

The righty improved to 3-0 behind a seven-inning complete game performance versus the Crimson. He matched a career-high with seven strikeouts, while scattering four hits and no earned runs for a perfect 0.00 ERA in the 13-1 victory.

Ford and the Tigers (7-20, 5-3 Ivy) will head to Monmouth for a midweek meeting on Wednesday, Apr. 10 at 3:30 p.m. before resuming Ivy action at Penn this weekend.
