Princeton Track & Field hosts HYP at Jadwin Gym Saturday

PRINCETON, N.J. (2/6/13) - The Princeton track & field teams host the annual HYP meet on Saturday, Feb 9.

The Tigers have won the annual meet every year since 1989 (Princeton did not compete in 2002, '03, '04), a streak of 21 consecutive wins. 

Princeton won 12 events at last year's meet to win 100.5 to Harvard's 56.5 and Yale's 13.

The Tigers went 1-2-3 in the long jump, with Tom Hopkins '14 taking the win with a jump of 7.30. Shane Molidor '14 and Damon McLean '14 took the next two spots. McLean went on to win the triple jump at 15.24, while Stephen Soerens '15 placed second. Hopkins earned another win in the 400, crossing the line at 48.21. David Slovenski '12 and Derek Hynes '12 went 2-3 in the pole vault. Omar Jarrett '14 put Princeton back in the win column by taking the high jump. Another win came from Conor McCullough in the weight throw as he threw an Ivy reocrd 23.19.

Bradley Paternostro '15 led off a 1-2 finish in the 800 with a time of 1:50.98, while Russell Dinkins '13 took second. Michael Palmisano '15 followed with a second-place finish in the 1000, while Sebastian Steffen '13 took second in the 200. Chris Bendtsen '14 won the 3000 in 8:14.02, with classmate Michael Franklin second. Richard Sheldon '13 won the 60 hurdles in 8.16, while William Egi '15 scored a win in the 60 at 6.92. Princeton went 1-2-3 in the mile with Trevor Van Ackeren '12 winning at 4:07.86, followed by Alejandro Arroyo Yamin '14 at 4:08.02 and Michael Williams '14 at 4:08.23. Princeton swept the relays, winning the 4x440 in 3:16.75, and it won the 4x880 in 7:45.03.
