Track & Field Starts Indoor Season Hosting New Year's Invite

PRINCETON, N.J. (12/6/11) - The Princeton indoor track & field season gets underway on Sunday, Dec. 9 when the Tigers hosts the New Year's Invitational at Jadwin Gym.

Fifteen schools will visit Jadwin Gym for the meet. They include: Bryn Mawr (women only), Coppin State (women only), Delaware State, Georgian Court (women only), Holy Family, Johns Hopkins, Lafayette, Monmouth, Rutgers, St. Joseph's, Stevens Institute, TCNJ and Towson (women only). Athletes from various track clubs will also be competing.

The meet begins at 11 a.m., with the men's weight throw and women's long jump. The last event of the day, the women's 4x8, is scheduled for 4:40 p.m.

Princeton won seven events last year. The Tigers swept the shot put with Patrick Park '12 throwing to 17.02 and Nonny Okewelogu '15 reaching 12.77 on her best throw. David Slovenski '12 reached an incredible 5.37 in the pole vault, an Ivy League record. Tom Hopkins '14 was a double winner finishing first in the 300 at 34.53 and long jump with a mark of 7.31. The women won both the 60 and 60m hurdles. Eileen Moran '12 ran 7.65 in the sprint and Tejumade Adewole '15 clocked an 8.78 in the hurdles.
