The Princeton women's squash team got its 2012-13 season off to a strong start Saturday afternoon with a 9-0 home victory over Franklin & Marshall. Princeton won 27 of 28 individual games in the victory, and will return to the court Sunday against Drexel.
The most drama in the match came early, as sophomore Nicole Bunyan dropped her first set at the No. 2 position. She bounced back nicely to defeat Emily Caldwell in the final three games and dropped only 10 points during that stretch.
"It was nice to see Nicole recover and make a couple nice adjustments," said head coach Gail Ramsay. "She got control of the match back."
Two of the other winners in the opening shift were freshmen Rachel Leizman (No. 4) and Tara Harrington (No. 8). Both won in their collegiate debuts, and Leizman lost only eight points during the afternoon.
"The freshmen did well today," Ramsay said. "Rachel did a great job and showed real poise and maturity in her play."
