No. 13 Men's Water Polo Earns Third at North-South Invite
Behind a 13-9 victory, the No. 13 Princeton men's water polo team earned a third place finish at the North-South Invite in Cambridge, Mass. The Tigers bested Bucknell in their tournament finale to improve to 5-3 on the year.
The Bison took control of the game in the first quarter, 2-1, but a composed Tiger squad rallied back to even the score 4-4 before halftime.
After the intermission, Princeton took off for good, jumping out on a 5-0 run. The Tigers withstood a five-goal fourth quarter from Bucknell, as Princeton added four goals over the final eight minutes of play.
Sam Butler led the way with three goals and three steals, while Drew Hoffenberg had a team-best four steals and added two goals and assists apiece. Connor Still, Billy Tifft and Matt Weber each recorded two goals and Tim Wenzlau notched an assist, a steal and drew three ejections.
Princeton will face George Washington and Navy on the road next on Saturday, Sept. 22, before facing Johns Hopkins the following day.No. 13 Princeton: 1 - 3 - 5 - 4 - 13
