Princeton had a perfect first day of the Colgate Invitational, topping the University of Montreal 3-1 Friday afternoon and concluding with a 3-0 victory over Colgate Friday night. The Tigers will close the weekend Saturday morning with a rematch against Siena, which scored a 3-2 win over Princeton last weekend.
Princeton opened the day with an impressive win over a tough Montreal squad. The Tigers got strong performances from both of their outsides, as senior Lydia Rudnick and freshman Kendall Peterkin both recorded 16 kills apiece. Junior middle Leah Jordan added eight kills and hit .357 for the match, while sophomore Nicole Kincade had five kills; both middles had three blocks.
Rudnick led the team defensively with 22 digs, while freshman libero Sarah Daschbach added 19 digs. Sophomore Ginny Willis paced the offense with 45 assists and helped the Tigers hit .571 and .423 in a dominant pair of opening games.
Rudnick led Princeton with 14 kills in the 25-14, 25-22, 25-20 victory over Colgate in the nightcap. She added a team-best nine digs and hit .250. Fellow tri-captain Jennifer Palmquist added eight kills and hit .389 in the victory.
