Julia Reinprecht '14, Katie Reinprecht '13 and the U.S. field
hockey team concluded their 2012 London Olympics Friday, falling 2-1 to Belgium.
With the loss, the Americans went 1-5 in the tournament and finished in 12th
place. Team USA's lone victory was over Argentina, 1-0, who advanced to the
gold medal game.
The U.S. took control of the match six minutes into action
with a goal by Paige Selenski, but Belgium managed to even the score before
halftime.
The Americans tallied 15 shots, with 10 on frame, but were
unable to retake the lead in the second half, before Belgium scored the
game-winner with 17 minutes remaining in regulation.
As they had done all tournament, both Reinprecht sisters
played a majority of the game and Julia had a pair of shots in the contest.
The Reinprechts concluded Princeton's contingency at the
2012 Games.
