The Princeton baseball team rebounded from a Saturday doubleheader sweep with an 8-5 victory over Florida Atlantic Sunday afternoon in Boca Raton, Fla. With the win, the Tigers (2-2) split the season series with the Owls.

After three scoreless innings, Mike Ford established Princeton's first lead of the day, 1-0, off a one-out RBI ground out. Princeton's lead was short lived, as FAU's Mark Nelson responded with a two-run home run to make it a 2-1 ballgame in the bottom half of the fourth.

The Tigers then countered the following inning with a pair of runs to retake the lead. Nate Baird led off with a single up the middle and was advanced to second off Blake Thomsen's walk. After an Owl pitching change, Alex Flink hit a one-out single to center field to load the bases. John Mishu followed, doubling to right center to bring home Baird and Thomsen and give Princeton a 3-2 advantage.

The offense continued to produce runs, as Princeton added to its lead in the top of the sixth. Thomsen opened sixth inning scoring with a one-out RBI single through the left side and Alex Flink added an RBI single of his own to make it a 5-2 game.

In the bottom half of the inning, Florida Atlantic worked to chip away at Princeton's multi-run lead. Behind three consecutive walks, Nelson hit a one-out RBI ground out to bring the Owls within two runs.

Thomsen added necessary insurance runs for the Tigers in the seventh inning with a two-RBI single, as Florida Atlantic tallied a pair of runs of its own in the bottom half of the inning.

In the ninth inning, Thomsen earned a one-out walk and was advanced to third on a fielding error during Peter Owens ensuing at bat. Flink followed with an RBI single through the right side to bring Thomsen home in the Tigers' final offensive opportunity.

Princeton had 11 hits in the game, with both Flink and Thomsen leading the offense with multi-hit and RBI games. Flink went 3-for-6, with two RBI, while Thomsen tallied a team-leading three RBI and two runs, while going 2-for-3.

On the mound, Matt Bowman (1-0) pitched six full innings, throwing five strikeouts and allowing only three hits. Ryan Makis and A.J. Goetz pitched 1.1 and 1.2 relief innings, respectively, and combined for a pair of strikeouts. Goetz also earned his first save of season in the effort.

Princeton next heads to Columbia, S.C. to face the two-time National Champion South Carolina Gamecocks. The Tigers will play a three-game weekend series from Mar. 9-11.
