PRINCETON, N.J. (10/31/13) - The Princeton men's soccer team hosts Cornell on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 4 p.m., at Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium. It will be one of nine meetings between Cornell and Princeton this weekend in varsity athletics.
The Tigers hold a 49-36-13 lead in the all-time series with the Big Red. Cornell won last year's meeting 1-0 en route to the Ivy League championship. In the last 10 meetings Princeton is 5-2-3. Cornell has not won a game in Princeton since 1985.
Princeton is coming off of its first league loss of the season, a 2-1 game at Harvard. The Tigers are third in the Ivy League standings with a 2-1-1- record and are 5-7-1 overall. Two of the four league's leading scorers are Tigers. Sophomore Thomas Sanner has 15 points on seven goals and one assist. Junior Cameron Porter has 13 points on five goals and three assists. Sophomores Nico Hurtado and Brendan McSherry are next in the scoring column with five and four points, respectively. Senior Seth MacMillan has started and played in all but one game. He has a 4-7-1 record, two shutouts, a 1.63 goals against average and a .600 save percentage.
Cornell enters the weekend with a 6-4-4 overall record but has yet to win an Ivy League game, 0-3-1. The Big Red lost at Penn 1-0, Harvard 2-1 in OT, Brown 1-0 and tied Yale 0-0. Cornell averages 0.79 goals per game and has only allowed nine this year (0.64). Every win and loss, 10 total, have been by just one goal. Patrick Slogic and Jack Rinow are the team's leading scorers with two goals and two assists apiece. Jake Kirsch and Conor Goepel have five points each with two goals and one assist. The Big Red have utilized two goalkeepers this season. Zach Zagorski has started in eight games and has a 5-1-2 record with a 0.58 GAA and an .828 save percentage. Kurtis Teskoski started in five games and has a 1-3-1 record with a 0.75 GAA and a .765 save percentage.
