Heps Championship Central

PRINCETON, N.J. (10/30/13) - The No. 23 ranked Princeton women's cross country team looks to race its way back to the top as it hosts the 2013 Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championship Saturday, Nov. 2. The women's 6k race is set for noon at West Windsor Field on the Princeton campus.

The Tigers have won eight Heps titles, their last coming in 2010.

Freshman Megan Curham has emerged as the team's No. 1 runner this season. She has been poised against top competitors at both Notre Dame and Pre-Nats, and is now ready to make a name for herself at Heps.

Junior captain Emily de La Bruyere and senior Molly Higgins have been the No. 2 and 3 runners this year. de La Bruyere established herself last year, stepping across the line as the No. 2 in three races and the No. 1 in another while earning all-region honors. Higgins missed last year's cross country season after a successful sophomore year. She's a five-time Ivy League champion in track and was fourth in her last XC Heps in 2011. Another freshman, Lizzie Bird has been a consistent scorer this year. She was the No. 4 at Notre Dame and No. 5 at PreNats. Other potential scorers include sophomroe Kathryn Little, junior Kathryn Fluehr, senior Clare Gallagher and freshman Rachael Chacko.

Princeton's biggest competition will be Dartmouth behind the efforts of four-time national champion distance runner, Abbey D'Agostino. The Big Green are ranked No. 11 in the latest national poll. Right behind Princeton in the national rankings is the 2012 Heps champion Cornell at No. 24.
