The Princeton baseball team will head to West Long Branch, N.J. for a midweek non-conference meeting with Monmouth. The Tigers (7-20, 5-3 Ivy) and Hawks (16-11, 9-3 NEC) square off on Wednesday, Apr. 10 at 3:30 p.m.

Last Time Out: The Tigers split both series at Dartmouth and Harvard last weekend. Against the Big Green, Princeton won 7-1, before five errors stymied its efforts and they fell 6-1 to conclude the doubleheader.

The next day the Tigers downed the Crimson, 13-1, in game one, before both sides put on a marathon scoring outing to conclude the series. They combined for 39 runs, as Princeton held the early advantage, 7-3, and then responded from a 16-10 deficit to retake control 19-17 in the ninth inning. The Tigers conceded three wild pitches and two walks in the bottom half of the frame to let Harvard come back to win 20-19.

On Deck: Princeton opens Gehrig Division play with a four-game series at Penn. The Tigers and Quakers face off in a pair of doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday with first pitch at 12 noon both days in Philadelphia.

Ford Remains Undefeated: Junior Mike Ford improved to 3-0 behind his second consecutive complete game victory, 13-1, at Harvard on Apr. 7. Over seven innings, he struck out seven batters to match a career high and establish a season high. He also scattered four hits and two walks.

Along with win on the mound, he was the squad’s top batter on the weekend. He went 9-for-17 with eight RBI, six runs, four doubles, two home runs and a walk. He hit both homers at Harvard, including hitting his second career grand slam and finishing with a season-high six RBI.

Slamin’ Sunday: Princeton tallied five home runs over its doubleheader at Harvard on Apr. 7. Both Mike Ford and Tyler Servais hit grand slams, with Servais notching the first of his career. Ford had two homers on the day, and freshmen Billy Arendt and Danny Hoy both recorded their first career long balls.

Scouting Monmouth: Monmouth is coming off a four-game sweep at Mount St. Mary’s to improve to 16-11, 9-3 NEC. The Hawks host Hofstra on Tuesday, Apr. 9, before playing the Tigers. Five Monmouth batters are hitting above .300, with Owen Stewart’s .426 (40-for-94) headlining the offense.  The Hawk bullpen has seen 12 different pitchers take the mound. Wednesday lefty Anthony Ciavarella will make his third start and fifth appearance of the year. He is 1-1 with a 6.75 ERA over 10.2 innings pitched. He's thrown seven strikeouts, seven walks and batters are hitting .267 against him.
