The honors continue to come in for the 2012 national champion Princeton field hockey team. Monday the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced head coach Kristen Holmes-Winn was selected as the Dita/NFHCA Division I National Coach of the Year. This is Holmes-Winn's second career coaching honor; she was named the 2012 Dita/NFCHA Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year on Dec. 5.

Over 10 seasons at Princeton, Holmes-Winn is 131-57 (.697) all-time and boasts a 66-5 (.930) Ivy record. During that span, the program has won nine Ivy titles, advancing to the NCAA Tournament eight times, including two Final Four and a national championship game appearance.

In 2012, Holmes-Winn guided the Tigers to a perfect 7-0 record in Ivy League play, conceding only one goal to conference opponents, to capture their eighth consecutive Ivy title and advance to the NCAA Championship. Behind two come-from-behind efforts and an overtime match, the Tigers won their first-ever NCAA National Championship and concluded the year with a program-best 21-1 record.

Under her tutelage, Katie Reinprecht was named the Honda Sports Award winner, Longstreth/NFHCA National and Mid-Atlantic Player of the Year, and the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year. Kathleen Sharkey earned Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year honors and Teresa Benvenuti was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Year. Five players were named All-America and to the NCAA All-Tournament Team, and 10 players were named both All-Ivy and All-Region.
