The No. 11 Princeton men’s water polo team swept Sunday’s action to conclude its California road swing with a 4-3 record. The Tigers defeated Claremont McKenna, 13-9, and Whittier, 8-6, to head home riding a 10-3, 3-0 Southern overall record.

Junior Drew Hoffenberg paced Princeton on the day with 10 goals, five in each game. Freshmen Curtis Fink and Jovan Jeremic had three and four goals, respectively, while sophomore Jamie Kurprenas dished six assists on the day.

The Tigers managed the scoreboard from the opening quarter, jumping out to a 4-1 lead in the first versus Claremont. Both sides scored five times in the third, but Princeton’s 10-7 lead entering the fourth coupled with outscoring the Stags 3-2 over the final period sealed the victory.

Along with Hoffenberg’s five goals and Jeremic’s trio, Princeton tallied eight steals and goalie Ben Dearborn made 15 saves and an assist.

In their West Coast finale, the Tigers were outmatched by Whittier in the first half and went into the break down 4-2. The Poets remained in control through the third, leading 5-3, before Princeton employed a five-goal fourth quarter rally to earn the win.

Goalie Alex Gow made nine saves, including five in the fourth to successfully give the Tiger offense a chance to cut down Whittier’s multi-goal advantage.

Princeton returns home to host Bucknell on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 1 p.m.
