Sprint Football Looks to Rebound at Post Saturday
A week after having to forfeit its game versus Navy, the Princeton sprint football team returns to action looking to rebound from its 0-2 start at Post (1-1) on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 1 p.m.
Leading the Tigers is quarterback Chad Cowden who threw for 239 yards and a pair of touchdowns at Mansfield on Sept. 14 in his Tiger debut. Veterans Chris McCord and John Wolfe have a pair of touchdowns, averaging 89 and 87 receiving yards, respectively. Defensively, Bob Dougherty tallied 8.5 tackles and a sack to captain the squad on the other side of the ball.
Post enters Saturday’s meeting following its 38-6 loss at Army on Sept. 20. CSFL leader James Harrington’s 292 rushing yards and Anthony Jamele’s five sacks and 5.5 tackles headline the Eagles.
In their last meeting, the Tigers took Post to overtime, but ultimately fell in a 32-29 heartbreaker on Oct. 5, 2012 at Princeton Stadium. After trailing entering the fourth quarter, Joe Bush drove Princeton down the field and threw a 27-yard touchdown to Wolfe and the Tigers converted the two-point conversion attempt with less than a minute to play to knot things up 26-26.
On their overtime possession, the Tigers sent in a field goal, but it was not enough as Post connected on a five-yard touchdown rush to earn the victory.
