PRINCETON, N.J. (7/23/13) - Former Princeton women's lacrosse player Holly McGarvie Reilly '09 has added a second gold medal to her trophy case as Team USA defeated Canada 19-5 in the gold medal game of the 2013 Federation of International Lacrosse World Cup on Saturday, July 20 in Oshawa, Canada.

This is the team's second straight and seventh overall World Cup.

USA finished the Cup with a perfect 6-0 record and a goal differential of +93, defeating England 17-7, Wales 19-2, Australia 18-9, Canada 13-2, Haudenosaunee 20-1, England 21-8 and Canada in gold medal game.

Reilly played in every game and had one goal, was first on the team in caused turnovers with five, third on the team in draw controls with eight and third in ground balls with seven.

"I feel very special and humbled to have had the opportunity to represent my country a second time in the 2013 World Cup," Reilly said. "My first training experience four years ago was different as I was still a collegiate player and one of the later additions to the 2009 World Cup Team. To prepare for the 2013 World Cup Team, I spent a lot of time independently training to prepare for our team competitions, which allowed me more time to reflect on the meaning of what it meant to wear the USA jersey."

"Thinking of the World Cup immediately brings a smile to my face, but I also am a bit sad that the experience is over. Of course, we will always own the 2013 World Cup, but having the opportunity to play with such talented lacrosse players and be a part of something so great is a journey I will always cherish. A few of my favorite memories are: standing between teammates Kelly Berger and Caitlyn McFadden to sing our national anthem, getting to know my teammates better on the bus rides playing games and telling stories, celebrating my teammates' successes on the field with big hugs and stick slaps, and winning that darn gold medal!"
