POTSDAM, N.Y. (11/17/12) - The Princeton men's hockey team suffered its first ECAC loss of the season, falling 7-2 to Clarkson at Cheel Arena on Saturday, Nov. 17.

Clarkson set the tone scoring just 57 seconds into the game as Todd Christian collected his first goal of the season. The Golden Knights made it 2-0 at 7:01 with a power-play goal from Jarrett Burton at 7:01.

Princeton penalties got it into trouble as Clarkson converted on three of Princeton's five infractions.

Freshman Kyle Rankin scored his first collegiate goal at 9:07 to cut the deficit to just one. Senior defender Michael Sdao earned an assist on the goal. A flurry of penalties would follow, each team getting three, as the special teams took over for the final 10 minutes of the first period.

The Golden Knights broke the game open in the second scoring four goals to take a 6-1 lead and added another in the first four minutes of the third period.

Sophomore Aaron Kesselman scored his first goal of the season, a power-play goal at 11:14 of the third with help from senior Alec Rush and Rankin.

Clarkson had seven different goal scorers. Allan McPherson had a four-point game with one goal and three assist. Jarrett Burton and Ben Sexton each had three-point games with one goal and two assists apiece.

Senior Mike Condon played the first two periods and stopped 13 shots. Junior Sean Bonar would replace Condon in goal for the third period and made five saves, allowing one goal.

Goalie Greg Lewis earned his second win of the season stopping 21 shots for Clarkson, which improves to 2-5-4 overall and 2-1-1 in the league.

Clarkson outshot Princeton 25-23, but the Tigers did have the upperhand in the first, 9-7 and third, 9-6. Princeton was 1 for 6 on the power play, while Clarkson was 3 for 5.

Princeton is now 2-1-1 in league play and 2-3-1 overall. The Tigers will travel to play non-conference squads Sacred Heart and UMass Lowell next weekend, Nov. 23 & 24.
