Matija Pecotic, who advanced to the semifinals at the ITA All-America earlier this month, played his way Saturday into the Round of 16 in both singles and doubles at the USTA/ITA Regional at Yale.

Pecotic, who was ranked No. 67 in the nation in the ITA preseason rankings, is now 14-1 on the season in singles play, with his only loss coming in a third-set tiebreak to No. 8 Alex Domijan of Virginia at the ITA All-America. He and McCourt, who were not ranked on the ITA preseason list, are now 9-0 this season.

In doubles, top-seeded Zack McCourt and Pecotic opened play after a bye Friday with an 8-4 win over Kyle Berman and Spencer Clark of Cornell, while Augie Bloom and Matt Spindler followed up their win yesterday with an 8-6 victory over Erik Artursson and Petr Rousar of NJIT. Bloom and Spindler advance to face the draw's second seed, Ashok Narayana and Max Schnur of Columbia, while McCourt and Pecotic will take on the Buffalo duo of Damien David and Ivan Vereshchaga in the Round of 16 Sunday.

In singles, Pecotic won both matches Saturday to advance into the Round of 16, defending his No. 1 overall seed. Pecotic will face the tournament's 11th seed, Sam Fleck of Cornell, when play continues Sunday. Bloom, Dan Richardson and McCourt all won their Round of 64 matches Saturday before falling in the Round of 32.
