After an impressive first season, when he led all freshmen nationally in kills per set, EIVA Newcomer of the Year Cody Kessel will join head coach Sam Shweisky on the Bring It USA/Hawai'i team.
Kessel, also a First-Team All-EIVA honoree, has been named EIVA Offensive Player of the Week (March 26), and he won the fan vote for the Off The Block Fan Choice Player of the Month after a strong February. Princeton needed every bit of his strong play to grab the fourth and final spot for the 2012 EIVA postseason. He led the EIVA in both kills (4.0) and points (4.6) during the season.
Kessel will play on the squad, while Shweisky, the 2010 EIVA Head Coach of the Year, will serve as an assistant coach. In conjunction with Bring It USA Promotions and USA Volleyball, those members will participate in the 24th Annual Asian Pacific Cup in Fukuoka, Japan.
The tournament will be held June 15-17 and features the Junior National Team from China, the Senior National Team from Thailand, the University National Team from Japan and the Bring It USA/Hawai'i team.
Players from across the U.S. were invited to participate and will be included on the final roster.
