WEST HAVEN, Conn. -- Princeton's two entrants in the singles semifinal at the ITA Northeast Regional at Yale both took losses in their Tuesday morning matches, ending the team's run at the four-day event.
Melissa Saiontz, a No. 17 seed, fell to second-seeded Holly Cao of Harvard, 6-1, 6-2, while fifth-seeded Hilary Bartlett lost to ninth-seeded Casey Herzberg of Brown, 6-1, 7-5.
Princeton had not only placed two players in the final foursome of the 96-woman singles tournament, but Bartlett's top-seeded pairing with Taylor Marable made the semifinal of the 56-team doubles bracket.
The Tigers will cap the fall season Nov. 6-8 at the Kitty Harrison Invitational in North Carolina.
